Democracy is You

A friend of mine, Linus Chung, recently entered a competition called the Democracy Challenge- Your voice, your video.

And his video has been selected as a finalist and is now representing Malaysia in a worldwide competition. :)

The grand final is determined by public voting, so every vote counts!

Head on over to http://www.youtube.com/democracychallenge, click on the "vote" tab, search for "Democracy is You" and "like" it (thumbs up) to vote for it. :)
(screenshot of the contest page)

I've personally watched the video and I think it's very well done. :)

If you wanna know more about the guy behind the video, head on over to his blog thefrogcroaks.blogspot.com. :) He's an amazing film director, very down to earth (you may recognize him from Sepet, he plays Keong.), friendly, is someone who puts God first in his life and always does what he can for mother earth. This is the first time I've seen him ask friends to help vote for his video, he believes that if a work is good it should speak for itself, however this is a popularity contest so that's why we need as many votes as possible. :)

Help spread the news and get more people to vote! :D

Thanks everyone!

Di

John's camera has such nice effects. No need to go sticker photo booths dy. Syok!

With our pressies from John and Tha. :3

Our friends treated us to a very nice dinner at Marco's Pizza. Thank you~!
That's our pizza bday cake btw. hahaha. Lenard was pretty clever!

My best guy friends also took me out for an early birthday dinner! :)
I've known Martin and Shalom since we were in Sunday School and we all grew up together. :)

This fella I've known since we were 8! haha. Still one of my closest childhood friends. :)

We had dinner at Marche. It's been a while since I've been there...the food isn't as nice anymore. :C
Owh but the mushroom soup was fabulous!

Michele is someone we've just met recently...
She's Martin's colleague...and now his special person. hehehe.
So happy for them.

Us! :D
Thank you for the dinner!  :)

~*~*~*Bday*~*~*~

On the eve of my birthday, Emerson's family dropped off a whole bunch of gifts for me. Renee says it's like those wedding hantaran (dowry) or something. hahaha. Thank you very much Tung family. :)

From everyone in Em's family! O_O

Received some gifts from Thong Kai as well. And custom Rilakkuma cupcakes! :)
Thank you!

Daryl took this video of me failing to blow out the candles. T^T

Doing what my mom asked me to do. :3

Compulsory photo. We take one every year.

This year, we had planned to go visit my uncle and cousins in Penang and so happen we could only go on the weekend of my birthday. So on my birthday itself we drove up to Penang for a 4 day 3 night trip...that eventually became a 5 day trip instead. :)

Had lunch at KFC (the one at the bridge).

My uncle in his dental lab. :)
He receives orders from dentists around Penang island and creates amazing crowns and bridges for their patients.

With my cousin Ross.
This was at Northam Beach Cafe.
Pretty nice place to have dinner...until a storm threatened to blow us away. haha.

The next day we had satay for lunch with 3 other families (all distant relatives we haven't seen in years).
The place we had satay was called Ah'Basri, one of my uncles ordered lamb, ostrich, beef, tandoori chicken, deer, squid, and chicken. We had about 100 sticks of satay!

My uncle's apartment is less than 5 minutes walk from the beach. :)
Emo-ing at the beach.

Every night we had dinner together. :)
Scott's girlfriend Kriss and Ross' girlfriend Berry joined us as well.

This is aunty Lina's over pampered daughter.

During the day we would go visit relatives.
And the adults would go kaypoh and gossip...

While we kids have to entertain ourselves.

And every night after dinner Scott and Kriss would bring us out to hang out with their friends.
And owh boy did we hear a lot of interesting stories...hehe.

Btw, forgot to mention I got myself a Canon S90 to replace my dying Canon Ixus 750. :)

I got it just before leaving for Penang so I brought it a long to get used to using the camera.
My mom says "This camera is more complicated than your dslr."
hahaha.

We had to wait for our parents to get to the foodcourt for dinner...
So we played around in the car. xD
Ross is the king of posing quickly. I set the camera on timer and to snap 5 shots at a time.
There were more photos but I'll upload those to facebook. :)

Scott and Kriss bought a cake for grandma and me. :) Was a pleasant surprise.
My birthday was on Friday whilst grandma's chinese birthday is on Sunday.
And Scott's birthday was on Monday.
:D

Birthday cake...the taller candle for grandma, the smaller one for me. :D

Hope you had a happy birthday popo! muaxxx!

Chill out at TGIFridays @ Gurney.
Bottomless food and drinks ftw!

Dinner at Mizi Bistro (New World Park). The young fellas. :)

The older fellas. haha. :D

This was the dinner we had before leaving Penang the next day. And what an awesome dinner it was. :D
Cheap (dinner set is RM21.50) and the dinner set comes soup, drink, main course, and free flow of ice-cream *squeals*.

~*~*~*Post-bday*~*~*~

The Bounty Hunter

Was invited to attend the premiere screening of The Bounty Hunter yesterday.

Thanks Advertlets for the tix, Euveng and Jason for inviting and Rebecca for coordinating. :)

In case you haven't got a clue as to what this romantic action comedy is all about...I'll let the trailer fill you in. :D

Keep in mind though that this isn't one of those movies where all the funny bits are in the trailer.

There were tons of hilarious moments in the movie that sent the whole cinema roaring with laughter. Also quite a bit of, erm, "eww" scenes as well...thanks to Gerard Butler who plays Milo Boyd the ex-cop who got kicked off the force and is now a bounty hunter. A scruffy, dirty, cheeky bounty hunter.

Jennifer Aniston plays Nicole Hurley, a reporter covering a story of a murder covered-up as a suicide, and also she's Milo Boyd's ex-wife. She jumps-bail to get some leads on the case and ends up as Milo's next assignment. He gets the assignment of a lifetime - sending his ex-wife to jail, but Nicole doesn't give in without a fight. That's when the game of cat and mouse begins. :)

Before the movie, I met up with Sandra and Chee Wei for a very last minute dinner. Was suppose to meet Joshua and Joyce there as well but Joyce still isn't feeling well and Joshua had work to do. :(

Nom nom @ Manhattan Fish Market e@Curve.

Sandra had fish and chips.

I had the seafood pasta. yums!

Got one of the staff to help us take a group shot...but he failed. T^T

Owh and they asked us to fill out comment cards after dinner and gave each of us a voucher for RM5 off the next meal and a voucher for free soup of the day/ fried country mushrooms/ fried calamari during our next visit. yay! :D

Mia joined us later for the movie. Was so nice to see her after so so so long. haha. When was our last meeting babe? Last year's Halloween right? xD

Didn't get to camwhore with the rest of the people who went. :C
I remember seeing Rebecca (of course, she gave us our tickets.hehe.), Thong Kai, Melvin, Dila, Justin and Sheeren. :D

This is a baju Rebecca gave me. Thanks! :p
I can wear it while working out to get Jennifer's fit and fab bod. xD

Honestly I felt that the movie wasn't too bad. I won't say it's out of this world, but it was good enough to keep me entertained. :D I really enjoyed the antics between the two exes and they showed us how misunderstandings can ruin a lot of things in a relationship.

There's a good mix of comedy, romance and a bit of action...a lot of eye candy for fans of Jennifer and Gerard. *wink wink* The side stories in the movie weren't developed very well so the main thing that keeps this movie going would be the chemistry between Jennifer and Gerard's characters.

My fav character in the movie has got to be Kitty, Nicole's mom, played by Christine Baranski. She doesn't appear much in the movie (such a waste) but when she does, it's always hilarious. She's so naughty. haha. :D

Another interesting character is Stewart (Jason Sudeikis), the weird colleague who stalks Nicole and thinks they have something wonderful between them. He's a really disturbing character. Ugh.

Owh and be sure to look out for a very interesting door that leads to a club in the movie. ;)

Di
