Eucerin - Review

As mentioned in my previous post, I've been testing out the new range of moisturizers from Eucerin - The AQUAporin ACTIVE range.

So what is this range all about?
Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE activates the skin’s own moisture network by fostering the creation of new aquaporins. The result: moisture optimally enters into the skin, even in deeper epidermal layers.

Here's a more scientific explanation:

What are "aquaporins"?
Aquaporins are protein channels that enable the transport of water across cell membranes, forming a vital network to moisturize the skin from the basal to the top layers.

These special "water pores" were discovered by the American molecular biologist Peter Agre who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2003).

Water molecules --- transported by aquaporins --- hydrate skin cells

As illustrated by my failed drawing below...haha.

So how does Eucerin's AQUAporin ACTIVE moisturizers work?
With age and UV rays, the "aquaporins" in our skin decreases resulting in dull and dehydrated skin. Fortunately the "aquaporins" can be activated and rebuilt thanks to gluco-glycerol.

When Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE is applied unto our skin, the gluco-glycerol penetrates into the dehydrated skin and stimulates the creation of aquaporin-3 in the deeper layers of the epidermis. So more aquaporins means better skin hydration and thus the skin is optimally moisturized! :D

Clinical, dermatological and in-use studies on over 750 subjects prove:
  • Very good efficacy: significant improvement in skin’s moisture content and appearance.
  • Good skin compatibility even in sensitive skin.
  • The skin is left perceptibly smooth and supple (94% approval)
  • 24 hours after first treatment – 90% stated the product range instantly and remarkably supplied their skin with moisture.
  • 1 week after regular use – 97% stated that the product range protected their skin from drying out long-lastingly.
  • 3 days after stopping regular use – 94% confirmed that their skin was still thoroughly moisturized.

And now to introduce the products:

*** My personal review ***

Firstly, here's the difference in texture of all three products:

The moisturizer with spf 15 is of a creamier, thicker texture.
The Light cream is more like a lotion.
And the Eye Cream is almost gel-like.

For the last 6 days I've been using the Spf 15 cream as my daytime moisturizer, the Light cream as a night moisturizer and the Eye cream I only use at night.

I have combination skin (dry cheeks, oily t-zone) which is sensitive and prone to breaking out in rashes when I use the wrong products.

Thankfully, I've been using these products without any problems, no rashes, no breakouts. :D

AQUAporin ACTIVE Moisturizing Cream Light:
This is by far my fav product in this range. It states cream but it has a lotion like consistency which is not too heavy and not too light till you feel like you need to apply a few layers.

I only need to use a small drop of this cream for my entire face. It spreads easily and is absorbed quickly, leaving no stickiness. There's a faint smell that's nice and refreshing.

I use this at night before sleeping (take note I usually sleep at 4 or 5am) and the next morning after washing my face, my skin feels so much softer. :D

AQUAporin ACTIVE Moisturizing Cream SPF 15 + UVA:
This product was a weeeee bit too heavy for my oily T-zone. :( I personally think this product best suits those with dry and dehydrated skin. It's fine on my dry cheeks but feels sticky on my T-zone.

I've been using this in the daytime because it has SPF 15 and UVA protection. The protection is not very high so you might need to slap on some higher spf sunscreen if you're planning to be in the sun all day. But if you are indoors most of the time, like me, then this is good enough. :)

AQUAporin ACTIVE Moisturising Eye Cream:
This product is great for relieving the skin around your eyes especially after a long day. I used this only at night because somehow it feels a little sticky after application. Not sticky to the point it irritates me but I just avoid using it in the day time.

It could just be me lah, I have weird skin. I think the other bloggers who have tried this says it's not sticky and absorbs well.

The best part is that this cream is safe for those who use contact lens! :D I've recently started learning to wear coloured contacts for vanity purposes...no power kind. haha. So this is great. :D

Today before writing this review, I decided to test something out.

I washed my face and DID NOT apply any moisturizer.

And to my surprise, my skin did not feel tight and uncomfortable like it usually does! Normally, after washing my face, if I don't apply any moisturizers I get patches of redness around my cheeks, forehead and lips area. Kinda like getting mozzie bites. :(

I know Eucerin says that their testing revealed that the hydration is maintained even after 3 days of stopping regular usage but I didn't expect any result after just 6 days of testing the products. Syok! :)

This means if I ever go on a short trip and forget to bring my moisturizers along, I won't have to worry about my skin getting dry and breaking out in ugly rashes. :D :D :D

Overall the products are living up to their claims and I'm pretty happy so far. :)

Eucerin Skincare launch

Was invited by Advertlets to attend the Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE launch.

It's their new range of moisturizers that are inspired by a Nobel Prize Award Discovery and is said to help keep skin optimally hydrated (even after 3 days of stopping regular usage!).

Being a skin care junkie, naturally I was excited to find out more about their new moisturizers.

The launch was held at Delicious Cafe last Tuesday afternoon.

The guests were treated to cute treats and a buffet spread.

Loved the atmosphere that day, even though I hardly knew any of the Advertlets bloggers. haha. I'm not very familiar with the blogging circle...yet. :p

Guests were treated to a nice pampering massage before the event started.

This was the elegant invitation card from Eucerin and within it was an eye mask. It was the gel type reusable masks that you can heat up or chill before using. Yay for people like me who sleep at 5am. :D

2 of the products were placed on each table for guest to try.

Hannah Lo was the emcee who did a lovely job at the event. I heard she was there really early and just patiently waited till all the guest arrived. :)

The panel of experts who introduced the Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE range to the guests.
(L-R): Mr. Ng Hock Guan - Marketing Manager of Beiersdorf, Ms. Yau Li Har - Marketing Director of Beiersdorf and Dr. Yap Lok Huei - renowned aesthetic surgeon

Eucerin even did a live product testing and skin analysis to measure the before and after hydration levels. There was a significant boost in the skin's moisture levels after applying AQUAporin ACTIVE.

Nom nom nom. :3

Official unveiling and launching of the Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE range of moisturizers.
Sorry I couldn't go in front to take pictures...I'm too short. T_T

The photo above and the ones below were taken by Jason@mynjaz. Thanks! :D

Everyone started camwhoring after the event ended. :D

Group shot that ended up in me waking up the next day with muscle aches in my thighs. (-_-;)

With Jason whom I just met that day. :) He's such a friendly and nice guy.

With Dila who said the massages were awesome. I should have tried it out too. :C

This was the press kit/goodie bag we received from Eucerin. :)

We were generously given full size sets of the AQUAporin ACTIVE moisturizers to try out.

Happy happy joy joy. :D

I've been testing their moisturizers out since Tuesday night and will write a full review in my next post. So a review and more in depth information about the products coming soon! :D :D :D

1st Deco-Den!

My first Deco-Den!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Finally blingified my LG Lollipop just for fun and now I feel like adding bling bling to everything I have. :P

The front (and my cute Korilakkuma hp strap. ♥ )

The back...a bit fail but who cares? haha.

I think my brother will never want to answer any phone calls for him on my phone...

Too bad can't really bling the inside...maybe I'll add some Rilakkuma stickers or something.

Of course, my phone is pale in comparision to these:

Siao! I'd love to have the cat one. But with Ginger on it instead. :D

Rilakkuma!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
(Yes, it's a handphone deco. Maximum siaoness overwhelming!)

Korilakkuma!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

This I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE!
♥ ♥ ♥ Alice in Wonderland themed!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Next on my list of things to bling would probably be my compact camera...or my D70s. hmm.

For adoption

Meet Spot.

She's about 5-6months old. (Yes, Spot is a female kitten.)

My heart bleeds every time I think about her circumstances...

She was a stray kitten we found behind our house.

Abandoned by her mom when she was barely a few weeks old.

Outcast by the kittens and cats around her.

She fell into the deep drain behind my house, twice.

She almost died when someone left detergent on the toilet floor and she played with it.

And now she's going to be given up by her owner because her owner's parents have objections.

Sigh. :C

I seriously don't know what Spot did to deserve this.
I've been crying every night thinking about what's going to happen to her.

I wonder, if she knew...if she understood human speech...how would she feel, knowing the owner she can't live without is forced to give her away to someone else or to an animal shelter.

I wonder, if I knew this was the outcome, would I have decided to rescue her in the first place?

but I guess looking at how healthy and happy she is now...I'm glad we rescued her.

She was the spunky little kitten who would sit in front of my back door, waiting eagerly for us to open the door and let her in. And every time we put her back outside, she would sit on the ledge and would seem stunned that we put her back outside.

Spot, a week after we rescued her.

She was extremely young at the time...she fell into the drain twice because she was unstable when she walked. And because of that, we took her in and nursed her back to health, hoping to help her find a new home. And we did find her a home, only we didn't expect this to happen.

It's hard for my family to keep her. We already have 5 cats of our own. If not, she would have been a permanent part of my family already.

I can haz loving home plz?

So we are looking for a loving home for Spot. She's a house cat. Litter trained.
Very energetic and healthy, has had all of her shots.
Will be sending her to be spayed soon.

So if you, or anyone you know is interested in adopting her, please contact us. You can leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

I'm praying she finds a good, loving, warm and permanent place to call home.

UPDATE: My daddy says we should just keep Spot. Since we already have 3 cats in the house and numerous add ons in our porch, it wouldn't make a difference...ERRRR...pretty surreal that my dad would suggest this...mom and I were downright surprised! I don't know how my 3 house cats would take to having a kitten in the house...so we'll try it out and see...meanwhile we are still open to anyone who is willing to adopt her. :)

Hugs n Kisses,

Such a poser!

I watched a video recently, explaining the history and evolution of the "Peace Sign".

I thought is was pretty interesting so I dug up some photos of me and my friends posing. hehe. So this entire post is gonna be filled with posers! :D

Trust me, it took forever to cut down the amount of photos to these few below.

I even omitted my entire camwhore folder. If I add photos from that folder, this post would take a few months to load completely. haha. xD

First up, of course, the infamous "Usagi-chan Peace" sign. (^_^)V

Followed by a variation of the peace sign, the "palm facing inwards peace sign".

And another variation...peace + wink.

And then you double the V sign.

1 person, 2 "V" signs...

2 persons, 2 "V" signs...

Triple V!

V sign + "5"

As you can see, these "Photographic Posing Accents" (as mentioned in the video.) are great when the pressure is on to do sampat poses.

There are tons of other stuff you can do with your hands...

...and your face...

Kissy face...

Surprised faces...

Even guys have their own macho poses...

and cute poses...

There are even animal poses...

Posing in groups is mad fun!

Whether it's a small group...

a big group...

Or a sampat group...

hehehe. :)

I know plenty of naysayers who think posing like this in photographs is such a "lala" thing to do and prefer to stand straight and look in front at the camera with a proper smile.

But I say, why not let lose and have some fun? Photos capture memories of moments you experience throughout your life. So why must all your photos be serious and formal?

Sure, I look silly or ugly in most of these photos...but hey, these photos never fail to put a smile on my face when I browse through them. :)

Will I keep posing? Of course! Until my kid says "Mom stop it, that's embarrassing." haha. :D

Hooraygang pose!
(couldn't get the right effect tho. ish.)
